Meet Sarah

Sarah
Senior Analyst, Consulting

The great part of the Consulting team is that the range of clients and the type of engagements are so varied, there is plenty of opportunity to learn a lot about different companies in many different areas

My Role

I am a Business Analyst in the Consulting team in BearingPoint Dublin. I studied Business, Economics and Social Studies (BESS) in Trinity College, graduating with a Bachelor of Business degree in 2017 and joined BearingPoint a few months later. I was onboarded to my first client the day I started and have been working with them since, in the Project Management Office (PMO).

Normal Day

As my client is located outside of Dublin, I travel for three days a week, so some days begin with a trip to Heuston Station! The mix between the office and client site is great to break up the week and keep things fresh. Regardless, most days I have a stand up in the morning with my manager, where we discuss what we have been working on and what is coming up. After that, most days are quite different. When I am on client site, I spend most of my time in meetings, discussing how the projects are progressing and assisting the engagement mangers. As the PMO was only recently set up, I am involved with the development and implementation of different practices and processes, such as helping get the different teams accustomed to the ‘stage gate’ project management technique.

Outside the office

Outside of work I love playing music, and you’re likely to find me jamming with some friends on the weekends. Otherwise, I am often found enjoying some of the wonderful restaurants Dublin has to offer or travelling whenever I get the chance.

Why BearingPoint

As a graduate, it can be very daunting to try figure out what you want to do. My two biggest concerns when choosing where to start my career were that a) I would get pigeon-holed into a narrow industry/competency early on, and b) I would just be another number in a sea of new hires. The great part of Consulting team is that the range of clients and the type of engagements are so varied, there is plenty of opportunity to learn a lot about different companies in many different areas. As well as this, the team at BearingPoint is smaller than some other consulting firms and this means you get responsibilities at an earlier stage that you might in a bigger company. I am getting great exposure to colleagues at all different levels and a chance to hear about what they are working on, whilst still working on great engagements.

BearingPoint is also great for developing your personal self – I met my performance manager on day one and we regularly catch up to discuss my career goals, check how I am doing and chat through guidance regarding upcoming opportunities to develop.
