Having worked with BearingPoint Austria for 3 years, I wanted to use BearingPoint’s European reach and I decided to move to BearingPoint Ireland.
Since joining BearingPoint, I have worked on multiple projects in various countries, mostly focused on the Financial Services sector.
Having worked with BearingPoint Austria for 3 years, I wanted to use BearingPoint’s European reach and I decided to move to BearingPoint Ireland. This opportunity not only meant a move to a new country but also the chance to join a new team, switching from Finance & Regulatory (F&R) to Data & Analytics (D&A).
In the Data & Analytics team, I am building on my previous Finance & Regulatory experience in that I am still working with our clients in the banking and insurance industry sectors but am now helping them to understand and transform their businesses using data and analytics. A typical engagement with a client in D&A involves analysing their business model and data flow through their organisation, understanding their pain points and developing analytics use cases that will add real value as well as to achieve their goals and build towards the future.
As data analytics is such a diverse field, almost every day is different. Working with our varied clients provides some unique opportunities to really understand each one of them as a business, but also to suggest and implement innovative ideas on how they can leverage data in a better way. On a typical day, I could host design and innovation workshops, analysing large and complex data sets, developing new data models and cool visualisations, or presenting our work and findings to the senior leadership teams of our clients. For me each day includes the perfect mix of hands-on problem solving, data crunching, visual story-telling and development of my consulting skills.
Outside the office
Having moved to Ireland from Austria, I am still discovering parts of Ireland, spending a lot of time travelling around the island. Being Austrian I am always looking for some mountains to climb, hills to walk and when I go home, slopes to ski! I spend a lot of my free time either doing sports or watching sports – trying to understand GAA and especially Hurling!
When I first joined BearingPoint, it was because of the people. From the first interview, it felt like I belonged here. Over the years this has not changed but has been reinforced by working with colleagues from across Europe.
Aside from the people, I really enjoy the challenging work, the ability to build a European network, and the opportunity to grow and change within the company. We help our clients solve their problems using the newest technologies while at the same time working with international colleagues – and most importantly having fun!
