Despite joining the company remotely, my colleagues at BearingPoint always made me feel more than welcome
I joined BearingPoint in September 2020 after completing my degree in Computing and IT at Queen’s University Belfast. I am currently working as a Senior Technology Analyst within the QA (Quality Assurance) team. Since joining BearingPoint, I have been fortunate to have been part of multiple projects, providing me with a broad insight to various areas of Technology Consulting. I currently work on a public sector project in Dublin.
Currently, my normal workday is completed remotely, with a call every Monday morning to discuss what everyone is working on and how we can help each other. I am fortunate that on my team not every day is the same. My days can vary depending on the time of the month, with my team being heavily involved in a monthly release cycle. As part of my team, I am one of three testers along with our manager. Day to day, we focus on various testing cycles, executing test cases and preparing for the upcoming release with calls in between to always ensure everyone is supported and we also have an active group chat to keep in touch.
During my final year studies, I met representatives from BearingPoint at a careers fair at Queen’s University and this started my interest in the world of consulting. At the fair I spoke to Caoimhe from the QA Team, and she explained to me what QA is, as it was not something I was familiar with. From those conversations my interest in both BearingPoint and working in a QA role began and I applied for a graduate role. I was lucky to enjoy my summer and start in BearingPoint the following September. Despite joining the company remotely, my colleagues at BearingPoint always made me feel more than welcome. Due to the many virtual social events and calls set up to ensure everyone has been connected it feels strange to think how I haven’t met most of them in person yet.
Outside of the Office
I moved to Dublin during the summer so at the weekends I am still enjoying discovering different parts of the city with my friends or squeezing in a holiday!
