I am a manager in BearingPoint’s Finance & Risk team. As a team we look to combine our Finance & Risk capabilities with the newest innovations to make F&R departments smarter. I work closely with clients supporting them while they navigate through new regulation that requires them to re-develop operating models and implement new solutions to ensure compliance. I have been fortunate enough to work on a range of projects since I joined including supporting clients with dealing with new regulatory reporting requirements and on a digital transformation project for a regulatory body.
A normal day for me would be a blend between project work and working on practice development. Some of the main activities in a normal day would be the project team catch-up meeting to discuss actions and manage progress in line with the project plan. There would also be a catch-up with the client to confirm progress, ensure that they are happy with the progress and the agreed deliverables.
Some of my work on a normal day would involve working on internal initiatives and working on thought leadership. All in all, a normal day for me is quite varied and that is what I enjoy as every day is not the same and brings its own challenges.
Outside the Office
Outside of the office, you will find me playing, watching, reading or listening to podcasts about rugby. I also enjoy barbecuing at every possible opportunity and have mastered the beer can chicken. My latest interest is watching classic Mini Cooper restorations with the intention of eventually doing a restoration myself.
The broad range of projects to work on which involves cross–functional multi-disciplinary teams. This allows us to draw upon our wide breath of skills and capabilities to successfully deliver to the client. For me, these projects are great opportunities to learn new things from my colleagues.
Since I joined BearingPoint, I’ve been able to really appreciate why I joined in the first place. The culture is second to none and I enjoy the open transparency that comes from the top down. It’s all about the people. We also do a lot of internal initiatives like Lunch’n’Learns and webinars where staff get a chance to see the work other teams are doing but also an opportunity to learn something new.
Some of the good stuff we get involved in is CSR, Sports & Social and Leinster Rugby. We are official innovation partners with Leinster Rugby which leads to a lot of interesting projects and some great social evenings attending matches. We have monthly Sports & Social events which are always a great evening of entertainment.
