For me, it’s all about the people. Our managing director knows everyone’s name and that atmosphere of collegiality permeates the organisation.
As a Senior Manager in BearingPoint, I’ve led a variety of projects across the finance, telecommunications and government sectors. In my current role as Country Lead for RegTech, I am responsible for the delivery of our regulatory, risk, supervisory and tax solutions in the Irish market.
Working with market leading clients to deliver new and innovative solutions is both challenging and rewarding. At BearingPoint I have always worked with energetic and conscientious teams of implementation consultants, product owners and developers. Sharing our clients’ vision and enjoying the intensity of agile development and delivery helps us to achieve successful outcomes.
Every day starts with a stand-up. It’s a great opportunity for the on-site team to checkpoint progress and identify obstacles that need to be removed. As Delivery Lead, I’m an observer rather than a vocal participant. As the day progresses, I move from meeting to meeting with clients, implementation consultants and work-stream leads. I see it as my key function to ensure that we are all aligned and informed. This ensures that we are all pulling in one direction towards a shared goal.
Outside the Office
When I’m not at work, I spend most of my time outdoors. Running, cycling and sailing keep me fit and help me unwind from busy days in the office. I also love to travel and am looking forward to an upcoming trip to Brazil.
For me, it’s all about the people. Our managing director knows everyone’s name and that atmosphere of collegiality permeates the organisation. It’s also about the diversity. Our project teams are made up of people from different competencies who all bring something different and complimentary to the table.
As Diversity Champion, I have had the honour of seeing our Women’s Affinity Network and LGBTQ networks grow and make a significant impact over the past two years. Our Women’s Affinity Network provides a forum for male and female colleagues to discuss the challenges as well as the opportunities for women in IT. One of the key challenges facing our sector is building a pipeline of new female talent. To address this challenge, developed a schools outreach programme to introduce primary school girls to coding and to inspire them towards careers in IT. This experience has been as rewarding as delivering a high profile project to a client. It is this rounded experience, which makes BearingPoint such a great place to work.
