Claire joined BearingPoint’s Dublin office in 2019 as part of the “Develop Abroad” programme (secondment initiative) which aims to develop professional and personal skills while working abroad. Here is Claire’s story:
I joined the BearingPoint Dublin office last autumn as part of a one-year secondment programme between Ireland and France. After four years at BearingPoint in Paris, I sought to experience different consulting projects and initiatives while discovering new ways of working (this was before Covid-19) and meeting new people.
Since I arrived in Dublin, I have worked on the CFO 4.0 campaign, which is a survey directed at Chief Financial Officers and Finance Managers around Europe (Austria, Finland, France, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland). The study aims to provide insights into the current state of digitalisation in the CFO function. It sheds light on characteristics of the CFO function, the technology enabling it and actions already taken or to be made in the future to get the most out of digitalisation.
I have also had the opportunity to work with a major Irish Retail Bank to develop their resolution planning programme of work for 2020. This involved the development of a plan of activities to ensure the bank complies with the Single Resolution Board (SRB) minimum requirements. We facilitated workshops across the relevant business areas to brainstorm, prepare and consolidate key deliverables to be submitted to the regulator. We developed tools and templates that were used to develop the required deliverables while also being able to leverage other regulatory jurisdictions for key insights that supported the deliverables.
Being able to work on the CFO project from Ireland was an amazing opportunity, as it gave me exposure to different European-wide initiatives/programmes. We coordinated a lot of workshops across different countries, while each country analysed its specific results and ongoing trends, client use cases or best practices were shared between the participant countries.
Many thanks to BearingPoint, especially the Finance & Risk team in Dublin and the Banking & Insurance team in Paris for these fantastic opportunities. I’ve loved my year in Ireland so much, I am going to stay for another year!
