From Tech to Trek: Starting the BearingPoint Hike Club

I have always found BearingPoint to be a very sociable place to work. Our after-work events are well attended. Last year, a team from BearingPoint organised Climb4Cry, a sponsored hiking event to raise funds and awareness for our charity partner Cardiac Risk in the Young Ireland.

After the success of Climb4Cry, I wanted to see if there was an interest in holding regular outdoor events. The hiking club allows us to get together informally while also seeing some of the beautiful sights that Ireland has to offer.

The hikes are organised to run every two months and are centred around the Dublin and Wicklow area. We hope that as we build up our stamina, we will set our sights on higher peaks. So far, we have taken on Bray Head, The Bog of Frogs (Howth) and Maulin. Each route has its own unique sights and history, with the added benefit of great company and the occasional after-hike meal!

For our next hike in August, we’re going to tackle the Sugar Loaf; a uniquely recognisable peak, known for its steep and rocky upper section.
