Meet Niamh

My Role

After just a year and a half with the BearingPoint Dublin office I earned my first promotion. My degree was in Business Information Systems from UCC and involved a mixture of development, analysis and business topics. Following this, I joined BearingPoint as an Analyst.

During my time at BearingPoint I have worked on two major projects. After spending some time working as a Business Analyst I was able to move on to a new project where I now work as a Product Owner and I really enjoy working directly with clients. I have gained some great experience across both projects and roles.

I have also gained some great insights by getting involved in initiatives across the company and there are so many opportunities to do training courses to develop skills as a consultant.

Normal Day

Most days start with a morning stand-up meeting with the team which ensures the team is aware of all tasks being worked on as well as status updates. These meetings are followed by client workshops and these sessions are very interesting because they drive the project and shape the focus of the team.

I usually take the output of the workshop sessions back to the development team and from there we work out how best to deliver what the client needs. My day from there is typically spent documenting these outputs in a way that is useful to both our clients and the development team and supporting any questions the team may have.

Outside the Office

I enjoy getting out around Dublin and catching up with friends. There are always new places opening and interesting events on around the city. I also like swimming so I try to fit in some time at the pool a few days a week after work.

Why BearingPoint

Because my degree was a mixture of development and business, I wasn’t sure what type of job I wanted to have after college. BearingPoint is really open to allowing you to figure out what area is best suited for you and enables you to move across roles. I originally applied as a developer and during the interview process realised that I would prefer to work in a more client-facing role so BearingPoint brought me back in to interview as a Business Analyst.

As a graduate, you are on the ground doing real work from day one which makes BearingPoint a great place to learn. It’s full of friendly and enthusiastic people that are ready to support you, not just from within your own project but from all across the company. BearingPoint is really committed to helping you develop and grow throughout your career.
